Our rescue is in San Juan Bautista , All dogs are in Foster Home. We are a Foster Base Rescue with No Facility but we have a small volunteer staff, so we meet with potential applicants one-on-one by appointment only. This gives you a good amount of time with the dog(s) in which you have expressed interest. Our goal is to build a Facility in the near future.

There are many ways to donate to our rescue! You can donate online through our website, mail a check to our address,go thru Chewy or drop off supplies in person at one of our Adoption Fair or we can come and pick them up also you can mail it at P.O. Box . We are always in need of food, toys, blankets, and other supplies.

It varies. Ideally, we would prefer the dog to remain in one home until it is adopted. The length of time it takes for a dog to get adopted can vary from a few weeks to several months or years, depending on the dog. If you have time being a foster into your home, please let us know.

Dogs require regular exercise, grooming, socialization, and attentive care, tailored to their age, size, energy level, and training. We aim to find that perfect match for that home.

ostering is a temporary commitment to care for a dog, while fostering to adopt is a path that may lead to permanent adoption. Fostering allows you to provide a stable home environment for a rescue dog to help them socialize and become more adoptable, but it doesn't guarantee you'll be able to keep the dog. Fostering to adopt has the potential for you to adopt the animal later, but the process is not always guaranteed and depends on the animal's case and if the original owner can be found or the biological family cannot care for the animal.

Fostering

  • Purpose: To provide a temporary, stable, and loving home for a dog while it's waiting for a permanent family. You are a bridge to their forever home.
  • Commitment: Short-term and temporary. Your role is to help the dog become more comfortable in a home environment and to be prepared for adoption.
  • Goal: To prepare the dog for a permanent adoption by another family.
  • Best for: People who want to help rescue dogs but are not ready or able to make a permanent commitment, or who want to help a specific type of dog that needs a temporary home

Fostering: This is a great option if you have experience with working breeds but aren't sure if you can commit to a dog's specific needs long-term. Working breeds are known for needing a lot of exercise, training, and mental stimulation. A foster home can provide the necessary environment for them to become well-adjusted before finding a permanent family.

Fostering to Adopt

  • Purpose: To provide a temporary home for a dog with the intention of adopting it if the animal's case allows for it.
  • Commitment: Both temporary and potentially permanent. You provide a home while the legal and biological hurdles are worked out. If the dog is not eligible for adoption, you may not be able to adopt it.
  • Goal: To adopt the specific dog into your family if all requirements are met and the animal becomes available for adoption.
  • Best for: People who are ready to adopt and want to give a specific foster-to-adopt candidate a chance to become a permanent part of the family.

  • Fostering to adopt: This is a good option if you are prepared to make a permanent commitment to a working breed and want to give a specific dog the best chance of being adopted by you. However, remember that not all foster-to-adopt cases result in adoption. You must be prepared for the possibility that the animal will be returned to the rescue or placed with another family if the biological parents are reunited with the child

During the Meet and Greet we recommend that you spend a much time with said dog during the Meet and Greet to make sure that it's  the right match for you and your family. Our adoption counselors will work with you to find the best match for your family. Because we know each dog. We just want to find that forever home.

Many dogs benefit from having a animal companions. A meet-and-greet is part of the foster and or adoption dog placement process to ensure compatibility with resident pets

Adoption fee which goes towards vaccinations, heartworm, spay/neutering, micro-chipping, and medical care if needed. Fees help with kenneling, food, collars, leashes, worming, transport and sometimes even toys, and possibly the use of a dog trainer to help with behavior problems. These fees all go towards helping the dogs. We are an all-volunteer organization, with no paid staff. You don’t get this kind of full service and care when “buying a dog from a Breeder” a new dog. Your new dog will come to you altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated and  a stater goodies bag. Now all you need to do is get ready to meet your new best “fur”ever friend.

All over the State of California from shelters mostly and sometimes surrender.

1) We do dog to dog and people to dog to make sure the dog or dog(s) are right for our  rescue program

2) Each dog undergoes careful medical evaluation and care

3) The rescue is equipped to handle challenging medical cases.

4)Dogs are assessed for aggression and only non-aggressive animals are rescued.

5) Dogs are transported to their foster and given the time they need to adjust.

This approach ensures that the dogs are in optimal condition and ready for their forever homes.

Most of the dogs we rescue are either stray or abandoned dogs. That said, their history is often unknown

The health of our dogs is of upmost importance to us. All the dogs receive full veterinary exams, heart worm and blood testing, treatment for whatever medical issues they have, fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, dewormed and given flea/tick treatment. All previous medical findings are disclosed to potential adopters. We do suggest scheduling an appointment with your veterinarian after adoption to start a relationship between your new dog and your vet. All of our dogs are adopted are healthy and all future veterinary care is the responsibility of the new adopter.

ALL adopted dog can be returned to us at any time. but we would need two weeks to find a foster home, you need to contact us thru email or phone. Just don't dump the dog on the street or shelter. contact us FIRST !!!

NO--- We only adopted in California.

Step 1: Research: Husky and herding breed dogs are truly unique and can be wonderful companions for the right person.

Step 2: Adoption Questionnaire: If you are considering adoption, please fill out the adoption questionnaire.

Step 3: Phone Interview: Once we receive your questionnaire we will call you to answer any questions that you have or if we at WDR.

Step 4: Meet and Greet:  We find it important to include your entire family when meeting a potential dog you’re considering for your family.

Step 5: Home Visit: If the Meet and Greet goes well and you want to adopt! then we will ask you to put a small deposit to hold the dog and that will go toward the adoption fee. Then we will go forward with the home visit.
